Financial Assistance Policy

Our financial assistance policy offers patients the ability to complete financial arrangements for services rendered by Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center. Our arrangements may offer patients a reduced financial responsibility while still complying with state and federal regulations and insurance contract obligations. You may request Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center provide details for any of the elements within the financial assistance policy as outlined below. Please contact the Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center Business Office via telephone at (941) 782-5434 for additional information. Your surgeon, anesthesia provider, and other service providers such as laboratories and pathologists bill for their services separately from Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center and maintain their own financial policies and arrangements.

Payment Plans

Each patient is expected to pay their estimated financial responsibility on or before the day of service. In the event a patient is unable to pay their estimated financial responsibility in full, Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center may offer a short-term payment schedule after an adequate initial payment is made. For an extended payment schedule, a patient may need to secure financing with an outside source. Please consult the Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center Business Office for further information.

Charity Care

Patients who are not eligible to access surgical services paid for by an insurance company or other third-party payment source, or believe they are medically indigent, may be eligible to receive charity care via discounted pricing from Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center. The discounted price is an established percentage of the lowest insurance company or third-party payment reimbursement available to Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center for performing a surgical procedure. At the sole discretion of Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center, charity care via discounted pricing and a payment plan may be extended to a patient that requests this financial arrangement. There is no formal application process for obtaining charity care via discounted pricing at Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center. Please call Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center at 941-216-3963 to request charity care via discounted pricing. If a patient’s surgical procedure is subsequently found to be covered by insurance or another third-party payment source, the discounted price will be disallowed.

Out-Of-Network Insurance

Patients receiving services at Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center that are covered only by out-of-network insurance, may be eligible to receive an adjustment to their out-of-network patient responsibility, assuming Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center not prohibited from offering out-of-network adjustments under state or federal law or restrictions imposed by the out-of-network insurance company. If not prohibited, the application of any out-of-network adjustment is subject to the patient’s benefit coverage.

Collection Procedures

We will file insurance and third-party payment claims on behalf of patients when insurance or third-party payment benefits associated with the claim have been assigned to Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center. Patients are expected to provide a timely response to requests for information by their insurance company or third-party payer. Unpaid claims by an insurance company may result in the patient’s outstanding balance being fully transferred to the patient for collection. Patients are expected to complete their financial responsibility in a prompt manner. Payment of patient responsibility for a surgical procedure is expected by the day of service. Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center will make reasonable attempts to collect patient financial responsibility in a prompt manner.  If any patient responsibility is considered delinquent, the account may be placed with an agency or attorney for collection.

Other Providers

Surgical services are provided by Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center as well as other providers who will separately bill the patient and/or their insurance company for the services they provide. Other providers may or may not participate with the same insurance companies as Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Patients and prospective patients may request from Riverwalk Ambulatory Surgery Center and other providers a specific estimate of patient financial responsibilities and other information, such as billing practices.
